Watch Out Windows Users!- Fake Windows 11 Installer

No one likes a faker, especially when it comes to fake software updates. There is a fraudulent Windows 11 update that has been tricking users into installing malicious programs. We don’t know about you, but this is something we don’t want anywhere near our PCs!

When it comes to software updates, it is best to be wary of installations unless they are coming from a legitimate source.

Here are some red flags to pay attention to regarding this update:

  • An easy indicator to tell if this update is trustworthy or not is if it is coming directly from the Microsoft official site. The reasoning why is because the Windows 11 update will not even be available until later this year. Microsoft’s official site or Windows Settings/ Updates are the only place to install any Microsoft updates.
  • The installer file launches a program that looks like a Windows installation wizard. However, Windows Updates go through the Settings app of a PC and don’t look like app installers.
  • Be sure to pay attention to the file names that are being installed to your PC. Microsoft Installers and Updates again, are not available for direct download.

Keep in mind that with this malicious download, it can include adware, malware, password stealers, and other dangerous programs. Be sure to check the source before accepting downloads from unrecognizable sites. The last thing we want is for you to be another victim to this attack.
